My name is Michele Cogliati.
I am a documentary maker and wildlife photographer. For several years I worked on wolves and wolf preservation projects in central Italy.
As well as the real animals, however, I have always been fascinated by the mythical ones that live alongside them in human imaginations, and in which humanity confronts bestiality: werewolves.
In my opinion werewolves are the most fearsome creatures of the imagination - and not only of the imagination, for I think they are actually based on reality.
My first werewolf documentary, "WOLVES" (2006) was downloaded hundreds of times from all around the world. It was about the werewolf myth from a classic European perspective.
But during the last two years I have been thinking a lot.
In particular about the link between the real wolf and the werewolf myth: the wolf is a pack hunter and a daylight predator. The werewolf is a lone hunter and often depicted as a night stalker.
I have a few answers to justify these remarkable differencies that I'd like to share.
I may be wrong, of course, so I’d welcome your suggestions and comments about it.
